Story Openings are the most important part of a book: they draw the reader in and entice them to read more.
How do you start your stories for this effect?
Personally, I would try to introduce something to the scenario or character that will influence the plot later on, such as an illness. Perhaps someone was given the antidote for it but later on, this shows itself not to work at all.
If this cannot be applied to the story, then I'd start with a scene of action, a dramatic event such as someone hanging off the end of a cliff. Why are they there? How did they get there?
Mabye even some dialogue? Someone telling their son to leave the home? - This makes the reader ask questions.
Stories can be started in so many ways! How do you start yours?
